1996: I'd just finished 10 years in a U.S. corporate communications
environment - where quality, service, and teamwork were taken
seriously. This was the birthplace of my professional life,
and it set my standards high.
As I became both a Canadian resident and self-employed, I noticed
how many small businesses were offering high-quality products
and services, but couldn't afford to hire a marketing/communications
firm to reflect how good they really were. Not surprising.
It was surprising, though, how many of these businesspeople were
putting up with weak product and poor service from "affordable"
freelancers. I thought: just because these enterprises have limited budgets,
they don't deserve substandard products, and missed
deadlines and details. I knew there must be some way to provide
better service and product for a reasonable price.
Lexnight strives to be a sustainable business, and we place high
value in a job well done and a good reputation. And it's always
so educational and enjoyable to work with interesting people in so many varied
lines of work.
Although a la carte services for larger organizations
have since been added, this history and philosophy are still what
Lexnight is about.
